Names have been significance throughout God’s story. The patriarchs of the Old Testament gave us character profiles linked to memorable names… Moses, David, Amos.
In the New Testament, the inspired authors of the epistles often penned names that referred to Jesus, and Jesus, himself, used metaphors with various names to describe himself.
We will explore the “cultural connection” of those names that Jesus used so effectively in His teaching, look at the lives of men and women throughout history who have demonstrated in their lives the underlying principles found in the names of Jesus, and consider the meaning and application of each lesson for our own lives.
Jesus reminded his listeners, “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and put them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” Matthew 7:24. As we study, often we will explore a selected text by the discovery method that is explained in the lessons.
